About those upvotes

Nick, thanks for looking out for other people's boundaries. I can imagine that some bloggers might be put off by unwanted upvotes.
That said, in my case, I appreciated them!
I hide my upvote button because I don't want to concern myself with my upvote count. (I wrote my first thoughts on this here.) By hiding the button, I figure most people will never upvote even if they loved a post.
This means that even if a couple overly generous and tech-savvy readers unhide the button and upvote, the total upvote count is still pretty meaningless, which in turn means I still get to not care about it. But I do get to enjoy warm-fuzzies from the extra effort those readers made to throw me some love. It's kind of a best-of-both-worlds thing, honestly.
So, ReedyBear and Sylvia, thank you! I'm humbled!
