Cheers to Miniflux
I tend to write posts about apps only when I'm frustrated with an old one or in the honeymoon phase with a new one. To buck that trend, today I'm writing merely to announce fair winds and smooth sailing on the sea of Miniflux.
I began using Miniflux on a whim five-ish months ago, and I haven't even once felt my eye wander to anything else. For my brain, that's impressive!
I use the Miniflux UI most of the time, occasionally using NetNewsWire as a client on my iPads. I really appreciate the keyboard shortcuts. Here's my typical workflow:
gc: go to Categories viewjandk: move up and down the list of categories (vi movements)Enter: go into a categoryjandk: move up and down the list of itemsv: open an item's link on the source site in a new tab (rather than reading the RSS copy within Miniflux)m: mark an item as readA: mark the entire page as readgc: go back to Categories and repeat
These shortcuts let me do everything on the keyboard. And it all feels snappy and efficient because the Miniflux UI is old-school and utilitarian in the best ways. A breath of fresh air!
